We commissioned SocialQual to provide a small, qualitative evaluation of one of our holistic advice projects. Emma and Marnie were very approachable and professional throughout the entire process and handled the interviews with older people and advisers in a friendly, sensitive and respectful way. When the pandemic altered our plans for the end of the interview phase and presenting the findings, Emma and Marnie showed flexibility and kept good contact. Emma’s final report, coupled with the online presentation Emma and Marnie hosted to share their findings, gave us useful insight into what difference the project made to the lives of older people and food for thought about how to improve such work in the future.
It was a pleasure to work with Emma and Marnie and thanks to them for all their work. I’m very happy to recommend SocialQual."
Justin Butler, Age UK
Thank you for all the careful thoughtfulness that you took in collating the information and presenting our project- I am so honoured to have been part of Fresh Step and this report feels like a tangible encapsulation of such a significant experience.
It's comprehensive, presents a balanced view of the project and includes really valuable recommendations. The illustrations are great too!"
The Children's Society: Evaluation of Fresh Step, an project to support women at risk of CSE in London
Macmillan Cancer Support funded a pilot Lung Cancer Nurse Specialist post at East Suffolk North Essex Foundation Trust for three years, the pilot post was evaluated and following the successful presentation of the business case was made substantive. The evaluation was made by Emma Roberts over the three year period via questionnaires, patient/professional interviews, data analysis and regular meeting with myself and the wider team.
The evaluation underpinned the business case and was noted for its clarity, depth and adherence to the stated aims of the project with clear outcomes. Emma’s professional manner was enhanced by her empathic approach when dealing with sensitive issues, this facilitated the interpretation and presentation of data in a clear and concise format.
The feedback received of the evaluation was extremely positive and Emma’s work proved to be a powerful and central component of the business case, which was successful, in achieving funding to make the post substantive. On a personal note, I had no prior experience of writing a business case and I have no doubt that this daunting and stressful process was made manageable by the personal and professional qualities that Emma possess. I would have no hesitation in recommending Emma to any organisation who require evaluation, research or business case development."

I have no hesitation recommending her for evaluation work."
Arts Council England: Evaluation of Youth Participatory Theatre
Emma worked as a consultant for ECPAT UK. She prepared an evaluative report for us that examined the dissemination and impact of a short film we made for advocacy purposes. Emma did an excellent job of collecting and interpreting data from various stakeholders. The final evaluation report clearly presented the findings and offered insightful recommendations for future campaigns. Emma was professional and responsive throughout the consultancy and I am happy to recommend her."
Every Child Protected Against Trafficking: Evaluation of child trafficking prevention campaign
We commissioned SocialQual and Cloud Chamber to conduct an evaluation of our Alliance; a global community of organisations all trained in our methodology and working together to support young people in their local communities.
Emma and the rest of the team built positive relationships with our entire team from day one. They gathered information seamlessly and managed to understand the complexities of our programme quickly. They interviewed some of our partner organisations and worked with us in a creative and flexible way to consult with non-English speaking partners. Throughout the duration of the evaluation, they gave us regular updates and were mindful of testing and presenting their findings before finalising their deliverables.
As a result, SocialQual and Cloud Chamber produced an evaluation report that we found useful and comprehensive, and that truly reflected our work. The evaluation report enabled us to celebrate our achievements, and helped us think of ways to strengthen the Fight for Peace Alliance going forward. We were pleased to share the evaluation findings internally at Fight for Peace, and externally with our partners, funders and the wider public on our website. We are very much looking forward to continuing working with SocialQual and Cloud Chamber."
